Investigation of an engine order noise cancellation system in a super sports car

Today’s cars must meet ever-higher acoustic standards, and so, to avoid compromising vehicle dynamics, handling performance fuel consumption, standard passive methods alone do not provide sufficient performance. Active control solutions can a potential solution this challenge, particularly at low frequency such systems have been investigated for application small cars, SUVs luxury vehicles. These vehicles are generally characterised by fairly slow dynamics limited noise emission and, therefore, paper explores the challenging of active two-seat super sports car equipped with naturally aspirated engine. This work aims track then sounds extremely rapid variation rates, up peaks over 80 Hz/s, high sound pressure levels. A multi-channel, multi-order FxLMS based system has implemented, which modified optimise including both convergence gain leakage scheduling, achieve effective driver’s passenger’s ears. To evaluate controller, its simulated when applied measurements taken under several manoeuvres, ranging from conventional constant engine speed very fast run-ups.
